What does the PRIDE Champion certificate mean to you?
The PRIDE Champion certificate represents Vattenfall’s unwavering commitment to inclusion, even in a year where political and societal shifts have made DEI work very challenging. It is a strong affirmation that, despite external pressures, we have stayed the course in creating a workplace where LGBTIQ+ colleagues feel respected, valued and empowered. This recognition validates our efforts and reinforces our belief that inclusion is not optional, it is essential. It also reminds us that culture is everyone’s business.
Why is LGBTIQ+ diversity important to you?
LGBTIQ+ diversity is integral to who we are as an organisation. It brings unique perspectives that fuel innovation and collaboration, and it reflects our core values of equity and respect. Especially in a year where inclusion has faced external challenges, standing firm on these principles and staying the course is more important than ever. Supporting LGBTIQ+ colleagues is not just about workplace culture. It is about social responsibility and ensuring every individual feels safe and empowered to contribute their best.
Which LGBTIQ+ diversity project / measure are you particularly proud of?
At this year’s Pride events in Berlin, Amsterdam and Stockholm, we proudly showed what inclusion means in action and sustainably. We had a vibrant e‑truck at the Berlin Pride Parade and an electrically powered boat sailing through the Amsterdam canals to celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion. In Germany, we also partnered with a company employing people with disabilities to transform the banners from our e‑truck into bags and pencil cases. This demonstrates that our commitment to LGBTIQ+ inclusion goes hand in hand with our responsibility to fossil freedom.
How do you promote structural changes in the company?
We drive structural change through Vattenfall’s comprehensive DEI Positive Action Plan, embedding inclusion into systems and processes across six dimensions: Gender and Sexual Orientation, Ethnicity and Worldview, Socio economic Background, Seen and Unseen Disability, Age and Generations, and Family and Relationships. We are working in collaboration with Business Areas to identify gaps and tailor DEI roadmaps that respond to both global principles and local realities.
